At the beginning of September, dean of the Chicago Medical School of Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science Dr. James Record and vice-dean for studies Prof. Nutan Vaidya visited the Faculty of Medicine of Vilnius University. During the stay, honorable guests met with the minister of health of the Republic of Lithuania, Aurelijus Veryga, rector of the Vilnius University, Prof. Artūras Žukauskas. They also visited Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Clinics, the Faculty of Medicine and discussed with the students their feedback about studies and quality of life. During the working discussions, Prof. Nutan Vaidya agreed to become an international advisor to the medicine study program committee. Due to her experience and insights she promised to help improve the study process and students’ satisfaction with studies at the Faculty of Medicine in Vilnius. It is expected that Prof. Nutan Vaidya's assistance will be particularly important in the field of promoting competences of academic stuff.

The agreement with the Rosalind Frankilin University, which opened up opportunities for students of the Faculty of Medicine to travel to the United States was signed two years ago. The current exchange has already been used by 2 medical students. This agreement governs the continuity of cooperation between the two universities and opens the opportunity for medicine students to get acquainted with the health care system of another country, the care of patients and the procedures of studying. The agreement was "born" by the initiatives of the Lithuanian Honorary Consul of the USA Prof. Jonas Prunskis. The professor was the first to turn to the Chancellor of Chicago School of Medicine, proposing to cooperate with Vilnius University. And after receiving enthusiastic approval, he further developed this idea until it became a reality.

At the end of the visit Dr. James Record and Prof. Algirdas Utkus reached a consensus to continue cooperation on the issues of quality of studies, to expand the possibilities of a bilateral agreement and to advance students’ exchanges. The students from the Chicago Medical School this year are expected in Lithuania in the Faculty of Medicine for partial studies.
