
International Relations
The Faculty of Medicine of Vilnius University is continuously developing international cooperation in scientific and academic fields. International relations of the Faculty of Medicine are expanding every year, with the growth of research, faculty and student exchanges, cooperation with various international organizations such as the World Health Organization, the European Commission and UNESCO. The Faculty of Medicine of Vilnius University is actively involved in the international ERASMUS exchange program and exchanges students and lecturers with foreign universities partners. This cooperation includes the largest educational institutions in the neighbouring countries – Poland (Bialystok, Lodz, Krakow, Poznan, Wroclaw, Warsaw), Germany (Frankfurt am Main, Kiel, Greifswald, Düsseldorf), Russia (Moscow, St. Peters burg), Sweden (Göteborg, Lund, Linköping, Stockholm, Malmö), Austria (Vienna), Ukraine (Donetsk, Kharkov), France (Marseilles), Spain (Deusto), Sardinia (Cagliari), USA (Loyola, Florida, Illinois, Wisconsin, Houston) and other universities, institutes and research institutions. Cooperation agreements have been signed with many of them.
In 2007, the Faculty of Medicine of Vilnius University launched the five year Erasmus Mundus project financed by the European Commission, aimed at the implementation of the Joint European Master’s Programme “Sustainable Regional Health Systems”. The partners include the project leader and coordinator Vilnius University, University of Deusto (Spain), University of Verona (Italy) and University of Budapest (Hungary).
The Neuroscience Centre was established in collaboration with the Neuroscience Centre scientists from the University of Houston; its participants include also scientists from Medical and Natural Sciences faculties of Vilnius University. The first international summer camp of young neuroscience researchers was organized in 2011.
