After studying pharmacy at Vilnius University – to a much calmer town of Kėdainiai. That's the professional path chosen by VU alumnus Benediktas Rimdeika. Today, the young pharmacist can be found at the Kėdainiai pharmacy, where more and more local residents recognize him. Although it's rare for a young person to move to work and live in a smaller town after studies, Benediktas doesn't hide – it's precisely what opened up more opportunities for him.

The path to becoming a pharmacist

From Kelmė, Benu's interest in chemistry and biology persisted since school days, so he decided to study pharmacy and become a pharmacist in the twelfth grade.

"I like to help people in various life situations, so the profession of a pharmacist seemed most suitable for me. That's how I ended up at Vilnius University. Pharmacy studies went well, and it wasn't very difficult. I enjoyed microbiology and anatomy the most, and I also liked living in Vilnius during my studies," smiles young pharmacist Benediktas.

After studies – to Kėdainiai

Choosing between a big city or a small town to live and work wasn't easy for Benu at first. According to him, he had to weigh all the pros and cons.

"Just after finishing Pharmacy studies in Vilnius, I moved to live in Kaunas. I started looking for a job in my field, which prompted me to take a closer look at the advantages of being a pharmacist in a big city and a smaller town. However, I quickly decided that the advantages of a smaller town outweigh. Here, the pace of life is slower, nobody rushes, people seem happier, and there are no traffic jams," says Benediktas.

Becoming a pharmacist at one of the largest pharmacy chains in Kėdainiai, Benediktas now sees even more professional advantages in this town. The work here gives him the opportunity not only to gain various professional experiences but also to establish closer ties with the local community, thus contributing to their health improvement.

Benediktas doesn't hide that in Kėdainiai, his free time has become much more fulfilling. The young pharmacist managed to discover new hobbies.

"In Kėdainiai, the pace of life is slower. It gave me more time to relax and engage in activities that I didn't have time for while living in Vilnius. After moving here, I discovered new hobbies and remembered the old ones – running, cycling, and rollerblading, walks in the fresh air. So today, I can confidently say that work and life here have provided much more time and opportunities," says VU alumnus pharmacist Benediktas Rimdeika.
