We all know that aluminium foil is commonly used at home, more usually in the kitchen for cooking or freezing food. But not everyone knows that foil can be used to create art.

The exhibition Blizgės, opened on the 5th of September, brings together art pieces conceived by students who attend Mažoji Guboja, a day-care centre for people with disabilities. Acrylics and gilding techniques were used to create these artworks, and a wide variety of objects were used to produce the foil’s raised reliefs. They included a variety of objects that came closest to hand: various costume jewellery items (buttons, brooches, beads), wooden chopsticks, cardboard, crocheted doilies and other small objects that became secrets under the foil sheets.

The students have proved once again, that their imagination is limitless, their unique creative possibilities have no frame, and their self-expression is unique and individual. We invite you to explore these foil artworks.
