During the meeting of the Council of the VU Faculty of Medicine held on 8 November 2022, the newly elected Dean, Prof. Dalius Jatužis, proposed to approve the new team of Vice-Deans and Institute Directors. Taking into account the experience in the administration of the faculty and the priorities of the University and the Faculty, the nomination of four Institute Directors and the decision to create two more Deputy Deans (Vice-Deans) were unanimously approved.
The posts of Vice-Dean for General Affairs and Strategic Development, Vice-Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Innovation and Vice-Dean for Studies have been abolished as of 9 November 2022. The following posts of Vice-Deans have been established:
- Vice-Dean for Education and Strategic Partnerships (new post) – will be held by Prof. Vaiva Hendrixson;
- Vice-Dean for Undergraduate Studies (replacing the position of Vice-Dean for Studies) ‒ will be held by Assoc. Prof. Laura Nedzinskienė;
- Vice-Dean for Infrastructure and General Affairs (replacing the position of Vice-Dean for General Affairs and Strategic Development) ‒ will be held by Aleksas Pikturna, PhD;
- Vice-Dean for Research and Innovation (new post) ‒ will be held by Karolis Ažukaitis, PhD;
- Vice-Dean of Postgraduate Studies (replacing the Vice-Dean of Postgraduate Studies and Innovation) – will be held by Prof. Vytautas Kasiulevičius.
The nominations for the Directors of the Institutes of the Faculty of Medicine have also been approved as of 9 November 2022:
- The Institute of Biomedical Sciences will continue to be headed by Prof. Algirdas Tamošiūnas;
- The Institute of Clinical Medicine will be headed by Prof. Tomas Poškus (replacing Dalius Jatužis);
- The Institute of Dentistry will continue to be headed by Prof. Vilma Brukienė;
- The Institute of Health Sciences will continue to be headed by Prof. Natalja Istomina.
These changes were unanimously approved by the members of the Faculty Council.
