This June, Vilnius University (VU) completed another academic year. The traditional Finis Anni Academici celebration at St. Johns’ Church honoured deserving members of the Vilnius University academic community and presented them with certificates of appreciation for their many years of service, participation in the community, social and volunteering activities. The ceremony also featured the presentation of symbolic memory diplomas.

The following members of the VU Faculty of Medicine (FM) community were honoured during the ceremony: 

For many years of leadership:

  • Prof. Dr. Diana Ramašauskaitė, Head of the Clinic of Obstetrics and Gynaecology for the VU FM, who is a long-time professor of the FM, Chairperson of the Medical Study Programme Committee and an active member of the community, Head of the Centre for Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the VU Santaros Klinikos.
  • Prof. Dr. Augustina Jankauskienė, Head of the Department of Paediatric Diseases for the VU FM, who is a long-standing professor of FM, an active scientist and a charismatic member of the community, bringing together and nurturing generations of young scientists.

For their outstanding long-standing work, and participation in the social and volunteer activities of the VU community: 

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Andrejus Suchomlinovas - for his active volunteer work in promoting the achievements of science and studies, publicising the topic of body donation and mentoring the donation process.
  • Joana Lukševičiūtė - a member of the staff of the Clinic of Infectious Diseases and Dermatovenerology at the VU FM - for her long-standing activities.
  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Robertas Badaras - for his active volunteer work in publicising the achievements of science and studies, raising awareness of substance abuse problems among young people and teenagers. 

The Rector of Vilnius University, Prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas, also presented awards to graduates of the Faculty of Medicine, whose studies and scientific activities were recognised with Magna Cum Laude diplomas:

The Rector of Vilnius University also presented certificates of appreciation to members of the community from other faculties—academics and students, who have significantly contributed to the promotion of the name of Vilnius University.  

The University flag was lowered in the VU Library courtyard to symbolically announce the end of another academic year. The flag will fly again on 1 September at the start of the next academic year.
