On November 15th of this year, the dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Vilnius University (VU MF), Prof. Dalius Jatužis, met with the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Egidijus Meilūnas, and the Ambassador of Japan to Lithuania, His Excellency Ozaki Tetsu. 

During the meeting, Prof. Dalius Jatužis presented the Faculty of Medicine, the achievements of researchers, the most important ongoing projects, with special emphasis on the construction of the Science Center of the Faculty of Medicine. Ambassador Ozaki Tetsu highlighted the relevance of international cooperation in the field of medicine. Egidijus Meilūnas, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania and former ambassador to Japan, promised political support at the highest level, as well as the development of collaboration between Lithuanian and Japanese scientists.

The meeting also discussed the details of the upcoming lecture at the Faculty of Medicine on November 20th by Professor Makoto Suematsu from the Central Institute for Experimental Animals in Japan. "The visit of this eminent and influential scientist from the land of the rising sun is important for our faculty in finding the interface between basic science and clinical medicine, with a particular emphasis on the development of the Medical Science Centre, which will open next year. We are grateful to the Ambassador of Japan in Lithuania, His Excellency Ozaki Tetsu, for the exclusive opportunity to meet with the scientist," said the Dean Prof. Dalius Jatužis.
