We would like to inform you that studies at Vilnius University during the 2023–2024 academic year spring semester will take place in a contact format.

In planning your studies at the Faculty of Medicine and aiming to ensure their smooth progress, we draw your attention to several important points.

We will continue the established practice from the fall semester of the 2023–2024 academic year, which allowed for more effective use of classroom resources and maintained a high-quality relationship between lecturers and students.

Lectures will be conducted in a remote/mixed format:

  • Pre-recorded lectures (links to recordings are uploaded to the Virtual Learning Environment). The links to recordings are stored in the Virtual Learning Environment until the end of the subject/module studies (until the final exam and its retake date). Links to pre-recorded lectures are posted in the Virtual Learning Environment until the scheduled start of the respective lectures according to the timetable of Vilnius University Faculty of Medicine.
  • Lectures conducted in real-time (on the MS Teams platform) or pre-recorded lectures with links uploaded to the Virtual Learning Environment (except for the first lecture of the semester).
  • Links to recorded lectures that took place in real-time on the MS Teams platform are posted in the Virtual Learning Environment and kept until the end of the subject/module. If a subject/module spans two semesters, links to lecture recordings and other instructional materials are kept throughout the entire period of subject/module studies (both semesters until the final exam and its retake date).

Links to remotely conducted lectures and other necessary information for joining (login codes, etc.) are announced in advance (no later than 1 day before the start of the lecture) on the Virtual Learning Environment.

  • The first lecture of each subject/module is delivered in person in the auditorium or in real-time on the MS Teams platform, as communicated to students. During the first lectures, students are acquainted with the subject/module description, the course of studies, evaluation criteria and methods, literature sources used in the subject/module, electronic databases, and answers to questions related to the subject/module studies from students. The link to the video recording of the first lecture, like other lecture recordings, is posted in the Virtual Learning Environment. If the first lecture takes place in an auditorium where direct recording is not possible, information about the subject/module studies presented during the lecture must be summarized and also posted in the Virtual Learning Environment.
  • The schedule must indicate the lecture time, place, and format. If the first lecture is scheduled in an auditorium, the address of the auditorium must be specified in the schedule.

Seminars and practical exercises are conducted in a contact format, except when mixed learning methods are applied in the seminar (e.g., computer simulations).

All assessments (interim and final) in the 2023–2024 academic year spring semester are planned to be conducted in person, unless the epidemiological situation does not allow it.

Retaking exams in the 2023–2024 academic year will be done in person.

All practical activities (laboratory work, practical exercises, internships) are conducted in a contact format.

Wishing you a smooth and pleasant start to your studies,

Study Department
