To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Department of Anatomy, Histology and Anthropology (AHA) at the Vilnius University Faculty of Medicine, a photography exhibition is opened at the faculty. The exhibition presents a part of this long-standing department’s history from 1948 to 2025, inviting visitors to explore one of the oldest and most significant academic units whose activities have greatly contributed to the development of medical science and education in Lithuania.

The AHA Department takes pride not only in the active academic and scientific work of its scholars and educators in Lithuania and abroad, but also in the warm, collegial atmosphere and strong traditions of community it continues to cultivate. This is reflected in the photographs on display: from scientific conferences, examinations and everyday academic life to festive gatherings and moments highlighting the interpersonal ties within the department.

More than a collection of archival images, the exhibition is a vivid story about the people who have shaped, nurtured and continue to define the identity of the Department of Anatomy, Histology and Anthropology. Visitors are invited to discover the department’s history through the lens of the camera, and to get to know the traditions and individuals who have kept this academic community vibrant and relevant for two and a half centuries.

The exhibition is located in the corridor of the VU Faculty of Medicine, near the Grand Auditorium.
It will be on display until the end of February 2026.
