Cardiovascular disease remains one of the major health challenges in Lithuania and throughout Europe. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) and high-density lipoproteins (HDL) show considerable potential as biomarkers that could contribute to earlier disease detection, a better understanding of cardiovascular risk and more precise patient stratification. However, their application in translational research requires reliable, standardised and reproducible isolation and characterisation methods.
During the seminar, Lithuanian and German researchers will present current knowledge, methodological developments and preliminary project work concerning atherogenesis, HDL, extracellular vesicles, microRNAs, proteomic analysis and the development of reliable translational research workflows.
The seminar is organised as part of the project “Standardized EV and HDL Protocols for Translational Research” (SEV-HDL), implemented by Vilnius University in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology IZI in Germany. This project of the Baltic-German University Liaison Office is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds from the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic Germany.
