Wearables such as smartwatches are emerging as accessible tools for detecting cardiac arrhythmias and acute cardiovascular events. By continuously monitoring physiological signals, including photoplethysmography (PPG) and multi-lead electrocardiography (ECG), they enable prolonged, non-invasive cardiac monitoring in real-world settings. As these technologies moved toward clinically validated diagnostic tools, they opened new possibilities for early detection and remote monitoring. Bridging the gap between technological innovation and evidence-based clinical practice requires close collaboration between engineers, scientists and clinicians, shaping the future of digital cardiology.
This conference is organized within the project* "Clinical feasibility of multi-lead electrocardiography and photoplethysmography wearables for the identification of rhythm disorders ", implemented by Center for Health Technologies and Remote Monitoring, Translational Health Research Institute, Faculty of Medicine, Vilnius University in cooperation with the Department of Cardiology at the University Medical Center Hamburg Eppendorf.
*The project of the Baltic-German University Liaison Office is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds from the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic Germany.
