A group of VU MF medical students works on the project, investigating the relationship between exercise and myokines. Myokines are cytokines synthesized and released by myocytes during muscular contractions. We want to investigate certain myokine concentrations after high-intensity interval training (also known as HIT) and aerobic training.

Short Outline:

Who are we looking for?

Healthy 18–30-year-old males, not participating in regular sport activities, not suffering from acute diseases and without any chronic diseases that restrict physical activities.

When does it take place?

From now until the beginning of February.

Concrete days and time must be agreed upon.

What do you have to do?

In total we need 30 participants (male) who will be divided into two groups. One group will do the HIT training for 20 min. and the other group will perform bicycle exercise for 30 min.

Step 1: We will collect your personal data including name, age, health status, sleep quality etc.

Step 2: You will need to come to Žirmūnų g. 124. One blood sample will be taken before the physical exercise. Afterwards you will perform the exercises mentioned above and lastly the second blood sample, 2 hours after the exercise, will be taken.

Step 3:  After 24 hours we will need to collect a third blood sample in Santaros lab centre.
