The Faculty of Medicine at Vilnius University invites young researchers - students of the VI year of integrated study programs or II year of master's study programs, residents, doctoral students, or young scientists (no more than 2 years after defending the dissertation) - to submit applications to participate in the week-long summer course "Eureka International Summer Course on Translational Medicine", which will take place from July 7th to 12th, 2024 in Utrecht, Netherlands. This program aims to educate and cultivate a community of scientists whose research primarily serves humanity and society. The summer camp is an experience that fosters change, contribute to it!

Selected participants will have their event fees covered, as well as expenses for accommodation arranged by the organizers and travel costs.

Translational medicine is the connection between fundamental research aimed at understanding the mechanisms of disease development and clinical research aimed at evaluating the effectiveness and safety of new treatment methods for patients. This connection does not function as successfully as it could. In order to address this fundamental problem in biomedical sciences, it is necessary to prepare and cultivate a new generation of translational medicine scientists who understand how the scientific system works and have the appropriate skills and competencies to conduct scientific research.

The "Eureka International Summer Course on Translational Medicine" training is designed for young researchers to take a fresh look at themselves, ongoing research, and future research. The training will primarily focus on personal development of participants: mentoring programs, development of non-disciplinary competencies, intellectual property, Open science, international regulatory training, interdisciplinary workshops. Exciting experiences await, inspiring you to engage in scientific exploration and become a member of the Eureka community.

"The most important thing is people! Translational science is not just a combination of fundamental and clinical research methods in one study; translational science is an approach and a common goal to help the patient, to find solutions to patients' problems: from benchside to bedside," shares Kajus Merkevičius, a resident of the Faculty of Medicine at Vilnius University who participated in the "Eureka International Summer Course on Translational Medicine" in 2023.
