A delegation from Nigeria visited the Vilnius University Faculty of Medicine Science Centre (VU MSC), including Professor Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye, Vice-Chancellor of Igbinedion University (Okada), and Professor Samuel Ehiremen Ibhanesebhor, a renowned expert in pediatrics and neonatology.

The guests were warmly welcomed by Associate Professor Dr. Karolis Ažukaitis, Vice-Dean for Science and Innovation of the Faculty of Medicine, Professor Tomas Poškus, Director of the Institute of Translational Health Research, as well as other faculty representatives.

During the visit, the delegation was introduced to the activities of the newly established Institute of Translational Health Research, key challenges currently faced by the Science Centre, and its future development prospects.

The Nigerian representatives expressed great interest in Lithuania’s and Vilnius University’s medical and health sciences ecosystem, collaboration with external partners, operational management of the newly built MSC facility, and strategic approaches to organizing and evaluating scientific research.

It was mutually agreed that best practices will be exchanged with representatives of Nigerian and other African universities through future online conferences.
