Dear members of the Faculty of Medicine community at Vilnius University,
This past year, full of challenges, changes, and new opportunities, has reaffirmed that medicine, much like life, is constantly evolving. We are called upon to respond to these changes, to learn from them, and to initiate some ourselves. I am proud of how our community remains strong, united, and committed to working together to achieve a brighter future for healthcare in Lithuania and around the world.
Every effort you make – whether through a demanding research project or daily care for patients – contributes to our shared goal of building a professional, responsible, and compassionate medical community. As the holidays approach, I extend my sincere gratitude for your dedication, for the countless hours devoted to science and practical delivery, and for your determination to learn, always in more depth, and with purpose.
On Christmas Day, let us take a moment to pause, find inner calm, and embrace a sense of gratitude. May the light of the season bring renewed hope, may the warmth of family and loved ones give you strength, and may all the shared moments and conversations remind us why we chose this path – to serve people.
May 2026 inspire the courage in us all to embrace new beginnings, have wisdom to navigate complex decisions, and the inspiration to pursue goals that may now seem distant. Together, we can continue to build a faculty that fosters learning, work, and growth – a place where ideas lead to discoveries, and discoveries lead to better healthcare solutions. May each day of the coming year remind you that your contribution truly matters, often more than is apparent amid the pace of our everyday lives.
I wish you and your loved ones a beautiful, peaceful, and hopeful holiday season.
